Colleagues,

I was in Rwanda last fall and observed one of the most promising and successful "state of the art" projects in the health area that I have ever seen. It is the use of fixed wing drones to deliver blood produces to an area within 75km (50 miles) of Kigali. The rural clinic/site uses Whatsapp to request the blood products and they arrive by GPS guided drone and a paper parachute drop in under 30 minutes.  Lives (mainly women at childbirth) are being saved, and blood products are not being wasted.

Tanzania is now scheduled to roll out the service across the country. See: http://www.flyzipline.com/

In my 50+ years of looking at developing country projects this is the first were I stood back and said "WOW!
